I remember the first time I saw this commercial and was trying to figure out who the voice was. Thought it was an ad agency trying for a different sound. Then of course, the reveal at the end. It sends shivers down my back every time I see it. So well done – from the voiceover, to the images, to the clever overlapping of the Crosby now/Crosby then. Yes, at its heart it is a commercial, but it doesn’t rub the product in your face. Have a look:

I’ve compared Chatroulette to Russian Roulette (for penises): Click. Click. Click. Click. Click. Cock! The best creative use of the site that randomly matches chatters is done by a guy named Merton…actually an online, not-so-well-kept secret, alter ego of Ben Folds. There are a bunch of videos where he’s at what appears to be his home piano, improvising songs. This time around, he takes it live. It’s great:

Really funny with some great cameos, and what appears to be the real Christian Audigier unaware (lost in translation?) they’re making fun of how ridiculous and douchey the brand he created is.

When I was at the Lisner Auditorium in D.C. earlier in the year for the recording of Patton Oswalt’s latest DVD/CD/Etc, he indulged us in a Christmas-themed bit for the encore. It’s very, very funny, and they’ve gone and animated it. A Christmas treat from one of the funniest stand-ups in the world. Yes, the world!!! Enjoy:
Sarah Palin is out on tour with her recently released book of fiction. You can learn quite a bit about an author by the intellect of her fans. Here’s a video with just that. Fans of Palin at an Ohio book signing:
I follow a whole bunch of comedy people on Twitter, but there’s one that stands above the rest in terms of getting the most funny out of the medium: Peter Serafinowicz. I knew zero about him before stumbling across his tweets earlier this year, but his posts are always funny. I found some comedy clips on YouTube from his apparently short-lived BBC program. In an odd bit of trivia, he was the voice of Darth Maul in the Star Wars movies. Follow him on Twitter. Here’s a TV clip:
Ed Hardy has become the brand of choice for douchebags worldwide. The “man” responsible for creating Ed Hardy is Christian Audigier. He’s the guy to blame. In an interesting twist, he is also the creator of one of the 90s douchiest brands, Von Dutch. Or as I like to call it, Von Douche. Here’s a great song/video calling out Audigier for his crimes against fashion and taste.

There’s been a video floating around for quite some time featuring Kirk Cameron expounding the virtues of Christianity, and flogging a “revised” edition of Charles Darwin’s book evolution of species. Apparently it includes 50 extra pages explaining why Darwin was/is evil. Who’s Kirk Cameron? Good question. In his teens he was a mediocre actor in a pretty middling sitcom called Growing Pains. At age 17, he converted to Christianity and since has become pretty hardcore. Apparently they had to alter his storylines on the show, so they’d be more wholesome (ie. he couldn’t be alone with a girl in her bedroom.) After Growing Pains died, he did a little bit of movie acting. More recently his acting has been restricted to Christian-themed films, including a post-rapture scenario. I found a video by Cristina Rad that takes apart his video piece-by-piece.
