I got myself a second microphone, and invited media man Chris Mavridis to stop by for the show. We talked about all sorts of stuff from hockey to television. Oh, and some radio shop talk. Enjoy.
I remember the first time I saw this commercial and was trying to figure out who the voice was. Thought it was an ad agency trying for a different sound. Then of course, the reveal at the end. It sends shivers down my back every time I see it. So well done – from the voiceover, to the images, to the clever overlapping of the Crosby now/Crosby then. Yes, at its heart it is a commercial, but it doesn’t rub the product in your face. Have a look:
Welcome to another week of audio magic – more Doug Henning than Chris Angel. On today’s episode, I talk about my dating life (flatlined,) dating shows (Conveyer Belt of Love, Dating in the Dark, Change of Heart, Temptation Island, Blind Date,) and dating websites (Plenty of Fish, Match, Date the Rich, Beautiful People.) Stand-up comedy from David Cross. Also man’s (my) quest for the perfect place to sit (down to do my business.) Looking for a clean, quiet, low-traffic men’s room at my new gig. Plus, why I like Florida. Hint: not the strip malls. You can get the podcast on iTunes, or listen right here to Josh Holliday Show #5:
I follow a whole bunch of comedy people on Twitter, but there’s one that stands above the rest in terms of getting the most funny out of the medium: Peter Serafinowicz. I knew zero about him before stumbling across his tweets earlier this year, but his posts are always funny. I found some comedy clips on YouTube from his apparently short-lived BBC program. In an odd bit of trivia, he was the voice of Darth Maul in the Star Wars movies. Follow him on Twitter. Here’s a TV clip:
Well, technically it’s not the new blog site, as I didn’t really have a blog before. I have had a webpage for many years, at JoshHolliday.com. At this point, I’ve got a bunch of irons in the fire. Literally, cause I heard it’s good luck. Although it’s making my place unbearably warm. With this new site, I’m going to take everything that’s going on in my life and put it up here in neat little categories. If I do some radio, I’ll try and get the audio up here ASAP. I can get irriated at idiotic behavior, and I’ll use this as a forum to call people out.
Now that I’ve set out the broad ambitions, I will try not to procrastinate, or be lazy (same thing?) and get some content rolling.
